Default Set-up question

I'm currently a Canon 50D user and have a 70-200mm F/4 lens and a Tamron 200-500mm F/6.3. I was wondering if the 70-200mm was long enough for in-flight photography at say an airshow or hanging around the strip from outside the gate? I'm looking to sell the Tamron for more modeling funds but don't want to loose the reach if the 200 isn't enough. Any suggestions? I've never been out photographing planes, only birds and other wildlife so have no idea whats good enough. Thanks,

Brian

You might be sorry if 200mm is as long as you have at an airshow. It obviously depends on how close you can get, but I can't imagine 200mm being enough reach for airshows.

I have a 28-300 mm zoom and for flying shots I sometimes find it a bit short - especially for the more spectacular manoeuvres for fighter sized aircraft.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll hang on to it for now.

I have a Canon 100-400mm L and even 400mm is short sometimes at airshows...

As in other life endeavors, longer is better.
