Default Opinions neeeded: Aires F-6F5 Cowl for Eduard kit

Hi all,

My first posting on this forum. Have a question on the above Aires set, has anyone tried fitting on the Eduard kit? Any issues, fit or accuracy? No point getting something that is suppose to fix the kit's cowl that isn't accurate itself. So your opinion(s) is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm on a VF-11/VF-111 legacy mission, so a good F-6F5 is on my to-build list.

Cheers!

Lawrence

No one else seems to be answering so I guess I'll speak up.
One of the selling points of the Eduard kit was the cowling was supposed to be correct (as opposed to the Hasegawa kit). There was a photo comparison on another website which showed Eduard,Hasegawa, and the real thing and Eduard's version looked very accurate. I would skip the resin cowling and build the kit as-is.

I agree with Wayne. The only benefit of an Aires cowling would be that it is in fewer pieces than the Eduard kit parts, but the Eduard parts fit like a dream.

Unless you just have to have one, I would not spend the money on it.

I'm building a RN one at the moment. The Kit cowl is good enough for me. Only you can decide whether it's good enough for you

Isn't the Otaki/ARII cowl supposed to be the most accurate?

Now I'm all messed up. Not too long ago there was some direct comparison images that highlights Eduard's slight inaccuracy of their cowls. And now they are all okay? Wag, could you show me the website you've mentioned? Thanks!

I'm tempted to get the RN box myself since it's two kits in one. But are the PE seatbelts sutton harness that cannot be used for the US Navy version? Btw, what are Mark I and Mark II equivalent to? F3 and F5 respectively?

Thanks!

Lawrence
