I've got to agree. Now I've got to stash about $60.00.

No VMFA-333 on the Marine sheet?Would have picked up a couple if they were included.Awesome looking sheet though, may have to pick it up for when I finally break down and get the Academy F-4B.

Perhaps that is coming with a "J in mind" sheet. Could get some CVW-8 markings this way.

That would awesome if it comes to pass.I spent two weeks in 1977 at Savannah with my dad for his annual two week summer camp and our units F-100's flew against/with them,a pilot from the Trip Trey's spent an hour our so showing me around and answering every question I could throw at him, loved the squadron since.I have hope they will be revived with the F-35B or C.

I wanted to make this sheet a little more 'B' model centric, just because the Academy kit is a Bravo. Not to worry I've got plenty of '333 refs which I'm sure will see the light of ay.

Geoff-

What air base were the VMFA-115 F-4's out of? It was DaNang correct? I remember seeing them on the Discovery Channel's "Wings" and they had some pretty cool load outs and some beat up looking jets.

Yup Da Nang. The Marine (land based) Phantoms were used almost exclusively in the Close Air Support role. They carried some pretty unique and bad-ass loads including napalm, gun pods, & rocket pods. Some of the squadrons field modified their birds and replaced 2 of LAU-7 sidewinder rails with dual-shot zuni pods. Many aircraft had a "combat weary" look and were heavily weathered and extremely rugged looking. Some of the most unique looking F-4s around that's for sure. Pretty interesting stuff from a modeler's perspective in my opinion.

If I may make one correction, the dual Zuni launchers (LAU-33 and LAU-35) mounted to the LAU-7's, so all they had to do was load the LAU-33/35 to the LAU-7, not replace the LAU-7's with the LAU-33/35's.

115 should show 4 different places, depending on the year

they deployed to Chu Lai, then Da Nang, then Thailand, then the bases in Japan
