Default Its official Fords will be next

I know this runs contrary to the results of the poll, but I think I'm going to hold off on F-4s just a little bit longer to see if the Academy kit ever materializes. Options for 10 birds!

Ok- I'm probably in- and a question.

When you designed the option for the Forrestal jet, did you ever quite work out exactly where the red spine marking goes to?
I was going to use the 1/72 kit and do this, but for the life of me I could never work out exactly where the lower edge of the red spine area falls.

Cool stuff!

I'll get me another 48-001 when I order this one too.

Cheers, Stefan.

Helps a lot Geoff.

However, if you look here, there just doesn't seem quite enough height on the Tamiya kit to make it look right- optical illusion?

While not a Phantom, there has been a Ford in my stash for over 5 years (at least) waiting for those VF-102 markings. As we know AJ coded aircraft ALWAYS sell.

I'm in...........Wonder if I can get Dong in halfway to go for the NK part of the sheet?

Pure awesomeness and can't wait for this to be released. However, I have one of those ball busting questions to ask........

How does the F-4B/N/J option in your poll of 'what do we want to see next' get 63% of the votes to the F4D's 19%, but the Ford wins and is the next release?

I forgot to mention that the results of the poll are totally subject to whatever mood I might be in at any given time. I was all set to do F-4s, and then I saw some old 50's instructional videos (posted to the Furball Facebook page) that showed the thing flying around, and I realized how totally unique and interesting the aircraft it was. Don't worry I've got loads of Phantoms that will need to find a home in due course.

Do you still need the Ginter book? I'm building a FORD for a customer and just got done with what I needed and was going to send it your way. I'd love to see the GSB jet with the red/white checkerboard on the spine. Also, it looks as though the modeler will have to paint the red spine for the VF-102 jet. This looks like it might be a good job for a mask!

I was able to pick up my own copy for fairly cheap. Unfortunately, space limitations prevented me from being able to include the full spine & tank markings for that jet. A mask set might be the way to go.

Mask patterns for the spine are all done. It took about 15 minutes to get the rough shape. I'll do the tank masks later. I'm also going to do masks for the flaps, rudder, anti-glare panel, walkways, and radome.

When I did the mask, I also cut the shape out in red vinyl and applied it to the spine. It looks like it should. When you brought it up, I too thought the spine looked odd. It's okay, though.

I was basing my experiences on the 1/72 kit- however- I would do this one in 1/48 without a doubt- thanks
