Default b-52d monogram 1/72

I am sure everyone has this one in their stash, mines been around for ever. I read the book B*U*F*F by Lothar Maier over the winter and then decided to knock this b-52d out. So here it is. This is 667, which is supposed to be one of the only b-52s that used any decorative paint, ie the sharkmouth. The kit decals were ruined so a got another set of Almark decals from Hannants. This was my first used of Hannants or aftermarket decals. I used lifecolor paints in a somewhat random pattern. I really like lifecolor. It was a fun build.

Default Awesome job...

I like that kit. Nice job with the painting. Where do you put such a big model?

It's got little plastic eyelets on the fuselage and wings...So, you hang it in flight from the ceiling...until you have to move to a smaller place with no room that is, then you take it out about 10-15 feet from the bed of your truck (which has been turned into the garbage truck for the day) and see how many times you can "fly" it into the pile of trash without it completely breaking apart. That model was just as tough as the real one...I think it took 4-5 times before the wings finally broke off!

One of these days I'll pick another one up, if for no other reason than it was one of the first models I built back before I knew anything about seams, aftermarket decals or proper paint jobs.

Yours looks wonderful by the way...Thank's for the trip down Memory Lane.

Aaron

I have a place over my workbench in the garage, so it's up and out of the way. I was going to use those little eyelets, but I found it more convenient to loop string around each wing and tail instead. I should pop off those eyelets next time I am monkeying with it. There is no way this thing can sit on a surface. Now that I ponder this a bit, I probably should of built it wheels up.

What a menacing looking beast! Great job. Like the others I just wish I had room to display something that BIG!

Thanks. That Firetruck is calling out to me, it's supposed to be a nice kit, so hopefully I can get to it sooner than later.
