Glad you guys like it. This was a fun build. The 'gawa hornet builds up like a charm. I had a little trouble trying to get some of the flame decals to sit right but otherwise no issues. I gotta give a big thank you to all the guys here and at ARC, my builds are getting better by leaps and bounds every time. Thanks for the great tips, in progress threads and sweet reference pics!
![]() Yes, I made the intake FOD covers using tissue paper, white glue and gloss black paint. The exhaust covers were with masking tape, which was how i did them in my last build, but i think i like the tissue paper method better now. The tissue paper is a bit fragile, but what on a model isn't? For the seeker cover, I used a piece of sprue a knife and drill bit.

GRAVES,
WOW!!!! Sorry for the lateness in replying, but I just joined this forum. I was the LPO of Corrosion Control in VFA-94. I designed and painted this bird just before our 2008 deployment to Iwakuni, Japan. I must tell you that you did a VERY NICE job!!!!!! I am very impressed with the details. I have a few hundred pictures of us working on 400 and I looked through them and compaired your work to ours. The only noticeable difference is the size of the aircraft. I do have a question for you. Is this a stencil kit? I actually hand drew the flames on the LEX, lower wings, and horizontal Stabs. (Back was sore for a week!!!) I also masked the orange and black by eyes only. I wanted a true "hot rod" look and wanted a few slight "imperfections" by the lines being off by a 1/4 inch or so. But they were dead on. (Oh well.) I hope you notice that I have posted this and you get back to me. Paul |

Ahhh, so we have you to thank for those flames! Mike drew the decal sheet, also by hand, flame by flame...
It's by far one of the best CAG schemes around! -brian Drop me your address and I'll send a sheet out to you.

Paul,
Thank you so much for you compliments. It means a lot especially coming from the guy who drew the real thing!!! I can't take all the credit though as the decals where Fightertown, they are the best in the business. I would take Brian up on his offer and see for yourself. Thanks for your service! ![]() Ryan Quote:
