Default Superb

Simone,

Your superb paint jobs continue to impress every one here. They are the most realistic paint scheme/weathering examples on these pages. Had two questions for you;

1. Tell us how you did the GE tailcone petals... both the inside (white hot side) and the outside (burnt metal side). Just curious.

2. How did you simulate the mirror like finish on the IRSTS under the nose? I have never had good success trying to simulate that mirror like finish. My next try at this will be aluminum foil oversprayed with Tamiya smoke to see what it looks like.

One of the more interesting loads used during Operation Iraq Freedom on the Tomcats was the following: 3 x GBU-31 2000 pound JDAMs in the tunnel, 2 x AIM-9Ms on the shoulders and a single AIM-54C Phoenix on the left wing glove. The LANTIRN targeting pod was on the right as always. They called it a "self escort" load. We all wanted to see one of the AIM-54 Buffalo's smoke off to the BoZo-sphere and tag some MiG coming out of Al-Taqqaddum. Once we figured Saddam's Air Force was a non-player, they down loaded the wing glove Phoenix for more bombs. The Bounty-Hunters went Downtown with the JDAM/Phoenix load on Night One/Wave One.

Just something to think about Simone if you put your Bounty-Hunter in a cat shot diorama. I am a very fortunate US Air Force tanker pilot who has 10 cats and traps on 8 carriers... but not in the KC-135!!!

Thanks Mark,
I did paint both the GE and the IRSTS with Alclad II.
Inside the GE nozzles it's just acryl paint, a coat of white and then very dark grey stripes.
The loadout will be LANTIRN, 1 AIM-9, 1 AIM-54, 1 JDAM and 1 GBU-16.
And yes, the Tomcat will be on a catapult diorama; I hope to finish it in the next months (I have to paint a VF-31 Tomcat currently) because I did start the project almost 3 years ago...
Cheers, Simone.

If I can achieve even 1% of that sort of weathering on my 1/72 tomcats, I'll consider it a success. Absolutely stunning job!

Where is that DVD with your techniques, Simone? I've been waiting patiently.
