For me thus far it will be:
  1. Trumpeters P-40B in Illiad Decals Early P-40'sTomahawk Mk.II markings of 403 Squadron, RCAF, Bennington, May 1941.
  2. Hasegawa P-40E, Markings TBD (leaning towards Montex RAAF masks)
  3. Amtech P-40F in Pyn-up 48-023 from the 85 FS/79 FG.
  4. Hasegawa P-40K, in Promdeler Decals for 23rd FS, Robert L. Scott (personal hero of mine)
  5. Amtech P-40L in 'Ace of Pearls', 2nd Lt Lawson, Madina, Italy, late 1943 (from the kit)
  6. Hasegawa P-40M, Markings TBD
  7. Mauve P-40N, in Eagle Strike 48147Birds of Prey Pt.1: 89th FS, 80th FG, India, 1944

This covers the major subtypes and gives a wide range of P-40 paint schemes from RAF temperate, to RAF Mediterranean, to OD over Neutral gray. If time & kits permit, they may be more than one of certain Marks, but only time will tell.

Phantoms !

Since I have more F-4s in my stash than anything else ..... kits, decals, etc.
Maybe just add aftermarket seats and markings.

Will work on a build list ....but am thinking one from each country that flew them ....except for the Good Ole USA ..... A.F., Marines, Navy .....

Cool!

I'm in with 1/48 F-104 Starfighters.

I hope to build quite a few US, Belgian, German, Italian and one Japanese F-104.
For this GB, I'll try to build at least:
*A Belgian TF-104G from 31 Sqn with 23 Sqn zaps. Daco Decals.
*A German TF-104G in Norm 83 camo, probably from JaBoG 33. Daco Decals.
*A USAF F-104C in Vietnam. Victory Productions Decals.
*A NASA F-104G. Victory Productions Decals.
*A Marine Flieger F-104G. Daco Decals.

If DACO succeeds in getting his update set this autumn, I could go wild.

Cheers, Stefan.

Does having Darren tempt me into attacking another R/M Tomcat count in this GB?

Remember I have had a few Tomcat related questions in teh last couple of weeks...blame Darren!

I've been kicking around a couple of ideas...

If it absolutely has to be a single aircraft type, then I would have a F9F Panther based entry (x3 aircraft) and and F-86 Sabre based entry (x4 aircraft).

If the entry criteria gets changed to a more theme based build, then I would build aircraft that a Marine aviator flew in the early 50s, from NAVCAD training through Reserves. This would include:
Training - SNJs, F6Fs, F8F, SNB
VMFTN-20 - F7Fs, PV-2T
VMF-115 - F9Fs
VMFN-531 - F3D
VMF-??? - F2H-4
Reserves - F2H-2

I'd pick significant or at random flights from the logbook, and build to the best that research would allow, how that aircraft looked on that particular flight.

Here are my first two POTENTIAL picks for theis GB:

Just ordered a second one, and depending on how I feel, a third one. Each model brings three versions. They are quite expensive @ about 50 bucks each, may be a tad higher.
...and then.....I have the F-4s......

Classic response Jeremy! How many times does that line get thrown around when Jeff, John, Denis, you and I spend the day building models?

Since Colin is doing Canadian Hornets, I'll jump in with Canadian Starfighters.

Cheers

Who says 72 year old can't be hot? Course that's a rarity I know.

Helen Mirren Old enough to be my grandmother and I'd hit it like the fist of an angry god!

You're right, Darren... those are classic words around our get-togethers. I wish we had time to have them more often!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
(before Dave rolls in on me for trying to de-rail his thread, lol)

I'd totally be in on this build if I had space for it. I'm currently in transition and all of my stuff is boxed up except for one kit.... so maybe next time around!
