I dig it!!! And the color scheme is the ONLY way to paint an F-14 - Gray and White!!! Low-Vis sucks. VF-84 is my favorite squadron as well, so you hit the nail on the head with this one!

Default Fantastic build

I like the way you've display the Tomcat. A couple of questions. Is it just the angle of some of the pictures that make the canopy seem open too high? And not having ever been in the Navy I would think that an alert bird would already been hooked up to the shuttle and have a hold back bar attached. Unless there are different levels of alert and this one is a more relaxed alert.

Alert birds are not hooked to the cat unless the engines are running and the aircraft are actually ready to be launched.

For the alert being depicted (Alert 5), the aircraft has electrical power applied but the engines are not running. When the word is passed to launch the alert, the engines are started, the landing gear down locks are removed and the ordnance pins are pulled, then the aircraft will be taxied a few feet to the shuttle and hooked up. Normally, the shuttle will not be retracted, it would be retracted after the engines are started.

Levels of Alert Status;

Alert 5/7 (depending on time frame)

Aircraft is manned, electrical power is applied to the aircraft, huffer (if required) is connected to the aircraft but not running), all pre-launch checks complete and all pins except down-locks and ordnance pins are removed.

Alert 15

Aircraft is not manned (aircrew are dressed and in the ready room), electrical power is not applied to the aircraft but cable is connected to the aircraft, huffer (if required) is connected to the aircraft but not running or manned, all pre-launch checks complete and all pins except down-locks and ordnance pins are removed.

Alert 30

Aircraft is not manned (aircrew on call), no electrical power cable or huffer connected or to the aircraft, all pre-launch checks complete , all safety pins installed.

Alert 30

Aircraft is not manned (aircrew on call), no electrical power cable or huffer connected or to the aircraft, all pre-launch checks not complete, all safety pins installed.

The number in the alert status is the time frame (in minutes) required to launch the alert, there are always at least two aircraft in alert status when flight ops are not being conducted and when the ship is out of home waters.

It looks amazing!

One small detail, the cable going from the electrical cart to the aircraft, that is a SINS Cable, not a power cable. The power cable would connect just aft, on the port side, of the nose gear. The SINS cable connected inside the nose wheel well.

BTW, really love the Ordie taking a "combat nap" by the port main mount, reminds me of my days of standing alert 5 duty.
