Looking good so far Loki......what color did you use for the paint? Did you use anything to simulate the Have Glass Sheen?

That Have-Glass paint looks pretty nice. Your model looks GREAT in the scheme!

Does Edwards have Block 50 Have Glass painted aircraft and if so, anyone have any photo's?

No Block 50s at Edwards in this paint. Just Block 30s.

I'm looking forward to this one. Both those jets in the pic are beautiful. What airbases are they from? I am interested in how you are doing the have glass paint?

Cheers

Anthony

I am struggling with the flory wash I have. It seems as though it disappears when i use the kitchen towel to remove the excess. BUT if I wet the area again it darkens off considerably.

If I leave it and apply the semi gloss / satin varnish will the wash darken up and stay dark?

Paint mix is a 50/50 mix of tamiya SF-24 dark grey and alclad stainless steel then mixed with lacquer thinners 50/50 mix, base coat is alclad stainless steel.

Once the satin finish is applied it will look far more Have Glass 5 than now but it still has it's HG5 sheen already.

I have had to guess the locations of the telemetry and data antennas because I don't have any top down pictures.
Anyway, best guess.....

The refuelling markings and the walkways don't quite seem to fit the Tamiya kit...?

Nice job on the Have Glass - it's got that slight metallic sheen without looking metallic. As for a wash - try using a technical pencil if you want to hightlight only a few panel lines, or you could use a wash of oil paints that gives you plenty of control.

I suggest switching to The Detailer.

I am reliably informed by Eric Rios (a kind of modelling guru of mine) that the florywash will darken on the satin varnish step.
One the satin has dried off it will make the metallic sheen on the HG5 really POP!
