Default 1/32 Tamiya Viper 181st FW.

Hi guys, I've had five of these kits in the stash for more then two years and, I guess it's time to build one now!
I'm using the C/J kit for starters and adding the NSI intake, Non bulged gear doors from the T-Bird kit. Not planning to use a bunch of Aftermarket parts for this build. "May use the Aires GE nozzle?"
Plans are, To build this one inflight packing a full load out, Wearing markings from the 181st FW. "I've been wanting to build the 500 jet for a long time and now the time has come to finally get going on this great kit!

It's on the bench!

Stay tuned!

Very cool! Not sure I've seen a big Tamiya viper build recently enough to know what the screw is for. Mind showing what that part is?

Thanks a lot Brad and George!

Hi Michael, The 32nd kit is kind of similar to the 48th scale kit. You have to join the upper fuselage sections together, Tamiya provides a screw to help out! The fit is great but, I used my drill holes everywhere method when I glued the top pieces together. "Slow and steady" making sure that I didn't end up with a funky seam on top.

One problem that worried me a bit was the gun cover and the panel that goes behind it. Tamiya says not to glue these parts so, you can display the 20MM canon once finished. Since this one is going to be done as an inflight subject, I had to glue in these parts. It was pretty tricky but, I have it fairly close.

A few more, Including the started intake trunk assy.

My builds always start out on the sloppy side, "Soon to be held together with Tamiya tape everywhere" but, things seem to work out in the end!

A lot more to come!

Thanks Chris

Messing around with some dry fitting! I was able to slip the entire intake assy. Into the bottom of the fuselage. No modifications were needed...Fits like a glove!

That's great, Mike. That particular jet holds a special place for a few of us on this group.

Thanks fellas! I'll try not to let you guys down!
Dave, can you confirm if 500 ever had the "Lets Roll" decal placed behind the rear canopy? Thought I saw a pic of it that way...once?

Update, Coming soon! Filling seams inside the intake trunk and doing some careful rescribing around the gun muzzle cover. May start on the pit tomorrow!

These are 1999 pics,I will have to pull out my disks to see if I have anything between 2000 and 2004.The Fox One sheet is correct with it's depiction of '500 for the 2001-2002 deployments, myself and Mike made sure Ben had everything to get it right.
