Default RNoAF F-86K Sabre , take 2

A while back I got a request for a commition build. For a F-86K Sabre in 1/32nd scale.

I thought OMG .. not the KittyHawk kit..

.. well who am I to turn down a commition build so I went to it

The plastic in these kits are so bad I cant even discrbe it. Any type of standard cement (revell, Gunze,Tamiya,Mig) will react with the plastic, soften it and even melt it. And it dos take weeks for it to set , not to mention what condition it will be in when done. I don't like using Cyano on the major componts as it has a nasty tendency of cracking.

now.. 5 months later I'm finally done.

I built this one more or less out of the box. I added details from a Eduard PE set in the cocpit and a new resin seat, the Norwegian K-sabres had Martin Baker seats installed very early so I decided to go with this.

And a cooincidence is that eiher the seat is out of scale or the kit is. The seat looks way underdimentionized compared to the rest, looking at my refrance pics the plane and seat is supposed to match up more than they do.

I used more filler, plastic card and F-bombs than I want to think of. the paints used are from the AK Metallics range, others are Vallejo and Tamiya for the most part. wash and weathering was done using AK and Florymodels washes, AK and vallejo clear and satin laquer to finish it of.

For sucky plastic, you sure made it your B_TCH! Great job! The sharkmouth is cool, haven't seen that before on a foreign D/L.

Looks great!

Such a pity about the Kitty Hawk plastic...I have several Cougars in the stash.

Cheers, Stefan.

Thanks guys

Stefan, the plastic is easyer to handle on smaller kits. I have done sevral Gripens and Jag's without any trubble at all. The problem gets worse the larger and thicker the plastic gets.
