Default A word about scale....

In general terms, I think its important to consider one simple concept about business: If you aren't in it to win it, eventually you will fail. If profitability isn't the number one driving force behind every business decision that gets made then your business won't survive. This is especially true for up-start hobby businesses. I think all too often there is a prevailing opinion in this hobby that somehow companies have an obligation to cater to everyone's individual needs and or requests. In fact the only obligation I have at Furball (or Tamiya, Hasegawa, Two Bobs, Apple, etc. for that matter) is to turn a profit. What other possible motivation can there be when you consider the time, money, and effort that goes into producing just one decal sheet? This isn't charity work. I have no desires to be an "industry guru" or model geek forum "blow hard". I don't intend to use my company as a means to continually and publicly push personal vendettas against competing outfits. For whatever reason, God gave me this quirky little gift of artistic talent that gets expressed in the form of model airplane decal sets. So far, people seem to like them. I can't please everyone, and its unrealistic for me to even try. So if I don't produce your favorite scale or subject, its not personal its just business. Right now and for the foreseeable future 1/48 will be the only scale that Furball will produce.

Every sheet you've produced so far Geoff has been 'liked' but most. I don't doubt your choices of subjects will continue to be something we ALL look forward too. My gosh, you even managed to turn this 'not really a fun of Phantoms' guy into one with your Phantom sheets. What more can one say about the amazing quality of your work than someone buying your sheets before even buying the kits they were designed for. That tells you just about anything you'd like to know about how good your stuff really is.

Geoff - are you referring to anyone or any company specifically? It sounds like it - so maybe I'm missing something. A lot of information passed on these forums seems to be insider stuff - talking around a subject - without directly saying it.

Its not even worth going into it. Suffice to say I percieved someone taking a shot at me which prompted me to vent a few things. Ill leave it at that.

You're the captain and it's your boat. Do what you're doing your way.

I bought two each of your 1/72 Phantom and Crusader sheets.

I'd like to ask if sales were good enough for you to continue offering 1/72? I sure hope they were, I love the quality of your sheets, and your instructions.

Yup. I will continue to offer at least one 1/72 sheet with each release round. Available this weekend I should have a 1/72 version of my OA-4M/A-4M "Lo-Viz Devil Dog Scooters" sheet. As long as people buy them, I'll keep making them. Thanks for the support Rex.

I just picked up that Low-Viz Scooter sheet in 1/48. It's absolutely wonderful, just like everything else I've purchased from Furball. Thanks for an outstanding product and looking forward to seeing what you release for the forthcoming Tamiya F-14D!
