This Southwest 737 in the old livery virtually made a circle around me on March, 31st 2008 in Albuquerque. After taking off from 26, it instantly turned to southeast with me in the center of the turn.

The 737 is perfect for the killer whale paint job. We once borrowed a huffer cart from Southwest. Somebody had painted "I blew Shamu" on the side of it.

Quietman, nice shot of the Midway jet! Here's one of mine, taken when we were trying to make it as an all-737 airline:

Anyone have any Piedmont -200s? I'm working on a couple in 1/144.

Thanks!

Ben

Ben,

I don't have any PD 732 pics (was a bit young when they were around, and not really into pics then!), however I do have some "transition" period PD 734's in the collection, photographer unknown. If you'd like those up, I'd be more than happy to post!

Nice shot of that 73G- did you grab that one at RDU?? Sure do miss seeing ML around, especially the F100's... They looked the best in that paint scheme, when compared to the CRJ's, 320's and 73G's. Was sorry to see Midway go. Always a staple at EWR as my photo addiciton grew thru the '90's...

Hi Brian,

Yest, that was taken at RDU. Now that I think about it, it may have been one I shot when we were flying the jets out after we shut down in 2001. They flew the 737s to the desert, and we flew the CRJs to West Virginia.

I'd love to see any PD pics you have. Back when I had up-close contact with them at ISO, it never occurred to me to take pictures. I was more interested in the 4th TFW F-4Es that were always diverting into our airport.

Cheers!

Ben

Ben,

Don't have much in the way of PD, but I do have a couple of shots:
(Photographers are unknown)

Also have a classic shot (also unknown photog) of an ML(I) 732 holding short at FLL some time in the 80's.

And another of 363ML lining up on 9L at Lauderdale in Jan '01...

If nothing else, just because this one's so different compared to the rest of SWA's theme jets, It's now near the top of my "to get" list when I visit PHL, LGA and CMH later this year... Still want Maryland and some better shots of Texas, though...

Forgot to add a smile after that yawn comment last night.

I have Maryland, Texas, and a couple others to share.

I like this one

After shooting the approaches all day at KLAS, you don't want the fun to stop, so what's one more as the sun drops behind the mountains?

Bill's post inspired me to add a few more SWA shots to the pile here...

Slam Dunk 1 short final into Baltimore

Shamu (737-300 version) landing Philly

LoneStar 1 out of Port Columbus on a cloudy afternoon

The Herbert D Kelleher over the numbers at Philly

Illinois 1 taxiing out from Philly's Concourse E

Great shots Bill and Brian!!!

A few very eye catching schemes there that I've never seen.

Thanks! Have an Ohio road trip coming up in two weeks, and hoping to get over to Port Columbus for a few hours of photography. Hopefully SWA will grace the field with one of the special schemes...
