I'm a big fan of the newer 170/175 models... VERY photogenic and also a great ride from a pax perspective. Both are smooth, comfortable and a the 170 is a freakin' rocketship! Just wish a few more airlines here in the states flew them...

Here's a few more to whet your appetite, Habu!

I concur. I flew on some United E-170's and they are extremely comfortable...surprisingly so. Then again, they still had that new plane smell when I flew, so that added to it.

They just look really cool. I'm also a fan of the CRJ's.

Concur on the cool looking part of the 170... Kinda has a bit of a "Corvette" look to it, especially the nose...

Ehh... The CRJ 700/900- not bad. Beyond 90 minutes and they get kinda cramped. CRJ 100/200... I go out of my way to avoid them. Like the plague. Tight, cramped, low windows and kinda loud inside. I'll do a 2.5 hour 170 series flight without batting an eye. Far better than the others...

Oh, I agree...I meant I liked the aesthetics of the CRJ's.

I'm 6'4", the CRJ 200 is like a coffin.

Hooah! Thanks for those! They do look like little corvettes. I'd rock one anyway.

Gotcha... They are neat looking, and even for a guy (like me) who's about 5'9" and wide across the torso, it's like sitting in a pup tent. I feel you there PB!

No worries! I fly 'em every time I get the chance. Hell, even chose to route PHL-CLT-STL to get on one versus a CRJ-200 PHL-STL nonstop! Great little jet and the Republic crews who work the US Express routes are pretty damn good...

I haven't had the chance to fly in one yet. Flown CRJs and ERJ-135/145s. And yeah, the CRJ is a bit cramped. It seems like it's just an engorged Challenger.

The Embraers (ERJs and E jets) are a favorite of mine.

My company’s software was used to predict the ground loads for these babies.

Canadair, not so much...they use the competition.

But, whether you are flying and Embraer or Canadair product, I think the main objection can best be summed as this...

In my best Thurston Howell, III impression: "But Buffy, there is no guarantee that they serve cocktails at the appropriate hour!"

You won't be disappointed when you do, Habu. Just a little tight on the shoulders, but otherwise it's an enjoyable ride... And that Corvette look doesn't hurt, either! lol

Forgot to mention that the windows are also a bit larger than most, giving great views of the world outside:
PHL-STL January 08 flying into the sunset near Pittsburgh (no zoom)...

Thanks, man... Right place, right time, right side of the plane! (bad pun intended!)

That's a beautiful shot!

You guys are right about the CRJ. The only good seats on them are the two in the cockpit. Even those get uncomfortable after an hour or so. I've always thought the ERJ had prettier lines. The CRJ looks pudgy by comparison. For the -700 and -900, they raised the cabin windows up to where they are supposed to be. I'll try to post some CRJ pics as soon as I have time to find & scan them.

I'm a big fan of the ERJ 190/195. I see a lot of jetBlue's fly over. Haven't seen too many of the 170s around here (RDU).

I agree that the latest EMBs are completely sexy. It's unfortunate that they're replacing the mainline DC-9 guys, though.

Thanks, Ben!

You guys aren't getting a full screwing at RDU... US flies 2 turns PHL-RDU-PHL on the 170 currently, one is a pure turn in the mid morning,
and the other arrives late and departs back to Philly early in the AM... Jet Blue also does 3 JFK-RDU-JFK pure turns on the 190, all spread across
the course of the day.

Have you guys opened up the east half of the new terminal yet? They had just torn down the old east half when I left for Korea back in March '05...

Brian
