The pics were originally hosted using PhotoBucket which as since changed it's hosting policy to a paid (at a very high cost) service, hence, most pics hosted by PhotoBucket will no longer be view-able since hardly anyone is willing to pay three figures just to post pics.

Default AIM-7E + F Radome Color?

Hello fellas,

Wondering what the color of the Sparrow radome in the late '70s/early '80s would be (AIM-7E/F)? I've seen models with a white, a darker gray or radome tan colored radome. The Tamiya instructions call for Sky Grey. However, I saw a thread somewhere about how the Phoenix radome is a ceramic-like material that starts out white(-ish), then takes on a grimy appearance after being repeatedly loaded/unloaded/handled. Pics I've found support this, but was wondering if this was the case with the Sparrow as well? Can't seem to find as many pics of the Sparrow on Navy aircraft as of the Phoenix. Just wondering what the scoop was. Thanks!!

The Sparrow radome was ceramic like the Phoenix's so they would weather just like the Phoenix's, starting off off-white when new and then weathering to a very (very) light grey.
