Default Hasegawa 1/48 TA-4K Skyhawk conversion

I love the Hasegawa 1/48 Scooter kit - one of the best kits they have done. So I have grabbed another one and will use it to build an RNZAF TA-4K.

I'll also be using:
TwoMikes Resin 150 Gallon Drop Tanks
TwoMikes Resin Escapac Ejection Seats
Master Models NATO Refuelling Probe
Eduard Brassin A-4E/F Wheels
Eduard TA-4J Photo-etch

As this year marks the 80th Anniversary of the official founding of the RNZAF, rather appropriate to build the aircraft in the 50th Anniversary colour scheme:

Model Alliance released a set of decals for this scheme many years ago and I bought a sheet when they were available. To say I was disappointed is a HUGE understatement. There is nothing useful or accurate on that sheet.

To that end I have drawn and printed my own decals, and I will mask and paint the red, white and blue striping on the fuselage, fin and drop tanks.

Tonight test fitting the TwoMikes 150 gallon tanks, the Eduard Brassin main wheel hubs are in place and I'm fitting some of the Eduard photo-etch to the pylons.

Next, I need to add the wiring and plumbing to the gear legs, and will recreate the same look I did for the OA-4M.

Looks good Craig! For how many I have, I have yet to build a Hasegawa Scooter in any form...

Nice one, Craig! Didn't know that Kiwi Scooters would use the Aero 1C jugs, or even that TwoMikes made them.
I got the AMS Resin ones for my build.
Interesting!
Cheers,

Vinnie
