Default New Decals - A-4 Skyhawks in Vietnam (parts 1 to 3)

Two years later than anticipated but finally have the A-4 Skyhawks sheets coming in 1/48.

The focus again is on covering Vietnam specific aircraft and like usual with AOA an attempt was to cover a range of markings used by specific squadrons throughout their time in Vietnam. The majority of these schemes have never been done before, and some that have weren't previously done accurately.

There will be three parts of "Battle Scooters", with each having 12 or 13 options for A-4C, A-4E, and A-4F Skyhawks. A complete set of data/stencils also is included.

$20 each (free shipping in US)
Printed by Cartograf
now available
www.AOAdecals.com

Each sheet will come with one full stencil/data sheet, more can be purchased seperately (already available as sheet 48-004)

VMA-223 Bulldogs - seven options: one A-4C and six A-4E from Chu Lai, South Vietnam, spanning betwen 1966-69

Hi, Steve.

The sheets arrived from Hannant's. They are fabulous.

I find the background photograph on the cover of 48-008 very interesting: it looks like that VMA-223 Skyhawk has two Mk20 gunpods and rocket pods.
The profiles make it impossible to see the modex or Bu No. Is it one of the aircraft on the sheet?

Cheers, Stefan.

Yes it's one of the options on the sheet, it is 19/1159 (though that load wouldn't have been unique to that specific aircraft only of course). It has a centerline fuel tank, inboards with Mk.4 HIPEGs, and outers with 19 shot 2.75" pods.

I had earlier used that image for the previous 1/32 sheet before I changed the cover designs to include profiles, so you can see the full image on that sheet's cover:

Also I meant to update the profile for the 1/48 and comment on the tail markings that can been seen in the image. It's clear the "P" in the tail code was converted from a previous "L" when that specific A-4 was with VMA-311, with the lower bar on the L of 311's WL code being overpainted.

Thanks, Steve.

Good to know about the "L" that was converted into a "P".
This one is not just a "Combat Scooter", it's an "a lot of combat Scooter".

Cheers, Stefan.

Hah, just did a double take. I read Stefan's post a few days ago, and today it was still highlighted as "new post." So, I read it again,,,,,,and "L converted to P" made me scroll back up to see if y'all were still talking about E's or not. You are, of course,,,,,but, I had to check to see if it was now about Limas and Papas.
