All of the times I've seen this jet at the base in PDX it's been carrying AIM-9L/M's....except for one of 776's final flights, she was carrying an SUU-23 gun pod, 4 AIM-7E's and 4 AIM-9P's
Hope that helps!

Thanks! That really helps. I have the old TAC Fighters book, 776 is loaded with the aim-9p, sparrows and gunpod in some of the pics.
4 aim-9L with 4 aim-7 and a centerline tank would be a realistic load? (Live or inert)

I never saw 776 carry a centerline tank! Did see her with wing tanks several times though!

Yes, Jan. If no outer wing tanks, than use the centerline tank. For the alert mission, they also sometimes used a gunpod on the centerline, but that wasn't too common.

Jake.... in your Phantom book, you state that USAF F-4C's never carried the AN/ALE-40 Chaff/Flare dispensers. Did the ANG use them ? The reason i ask is I am building a F-4C from the 111 FIS Texas ANG circa 1983.

Yes, the ANG used them, but the C-models didn't receive the mod. Just D/E/Gs.

When and why were skid strips added to the bottom of the stabilator tips? Were they a retrofit to all models? (Note: I don't think that they were anti-vortex generators.)

The 83' time frame was when I started going to Ellington every so often, with my new camera. Are you doing an alert bird or a line bird? I should be able to help with loadouts...

Default 57th FIS F-4E centerline tank question

Guys,
Does anyone know if the Keflavik based 57th FIS F-4Es were modified/ plumbed for the F-15 style high-g center-line drop tank? Iím trying to determine what center-line tank to use when I build a 57th F-4E. I believe they turned in their F-4s for F-15s in mid-'85; I hope that narrow down the time frame.

Thanks much &

Happy New Year!

RJ

Looked at various pics on Baldurs 57th site and when the c/l tank is carried, it seems it is the earlier Royal Jet tank, unless I missed it. The last F-4E pic on the linked page is captioned as the last 4E leaving in '85.

Default F-4C MB Seats

Fellas...I'm gonna start work on an Academy F-4C of Robin Olds jet SCAT XXVII. But I noticed while looking at the picture below, these aren't the standard Mk7 seats (looking at the chute/head rest).

What those seats DO look like are the Mk F-7's that were in later F-8's.

Any experts out there???

Not an expert but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express and drank Smart Water.

Could Col. Old's F-4C be an early production aircraft, if so early production aircraft were fitted with the Mk 5.

See below links for more info;

Mk5 could be correct since it looks similar to the F-7. I didn't see a pick of the Mk5 on that site at all. But this site did. I think you're on the right track though.
