Someone please pin this thread. We also need to pin the F-16 and F/A-18 stuff.

Awesome reference! Can't wait to put this to use with the Tomcats I'm building. Some great photos there.

Hey Brian, can we get another section with some more great photos- this time of bits on the underside, and of the landing gear? Sure, I could go to Prime Portal and do a Google search, but why, when we have you here at Z5?

Damn, that loooong exhaust duct just does not look right; from the eyes of a guy who's worked standard GE-100 & 129s for so many years

Gotta stir the pot once and a while, eh? How much shorter does it have to be to fit in a Viper?

About 50 inches. Quite a bit of extra tube

So if I understand this correctly from MATS- the Black Aces never flew anything but the A?

Roger that- just wanted to be sure before building one. But were they upgraded at all? And with what? I've seen some with LANTIRN pods on them.

Just the same mods all he A's got by the end. Bomb capable, Lantirn, just about everything with the possible exception of TARPS. VF-84 and later VF-14 flew those mission.

No sweat, the Aces received all the Alpha updates to include the PTID, ALR-67 (port NLG door bump), ALQ-126 (boxy antenna on the beaver tail), and LANTIRN in the extreme late 1990's all the way to transition. Anything 1998-ish or later had all the mods.

I am sure someone is going to shwack me for this, but I am pretty sure I remember seeing a smattering of new and old gun gas vents on their jets, but I may be mixing my memories up with that of VF-101 at the time, whose Alphas ran the gamut for mods.

How about the kits? Specifically the 1/48 Hasegawa B and D kits- are they pretty up to date with everything?
