Default Motivated by Darren Roberts GB......

So, I have always wanted to build F/A-18's in the markings of each squadron in the Marine Corps, both current and deactivated. This would be 23 aircraft to include the F/A-18A, F/A-18B, F/A-18C and F/A-18D.

Seeing Darren's thread about building 30 F-14's not only got me motivated to finally attempt it, but it also gave me an idea.

Would any of you be interested in joining/starting a group build with a slightly different twist?

Darren's building F-14's
I'm building USMC F/A-18's

The other participants would build F-4's, EA-6B's, F-15C's, F-15E's, F-16's, USN F/A-18's, etc. and so on. No 'minimum' number of models per member, just the same aircraft in different squadron markings, as many as you can finish in the time frame below.

The start date would be effective when all participants are confirmed (maybe by the 1st of June) and the end date would be the first day of the 2011 Nationals.

If you're interested in giving it a go, please respond here with the type of aircraft you'd like to build. From there, we'll set up a forum, get sponsors and all of that other neat stuff that goes along with a group build.

Let me know your thoughts.

Dave

Oh yeah! I'm in for Intruders! Or maybe Harriers. I got a bunch of either jet.

I'm already a permanent participant and moderator of the "I've had big ideas for my own personal theme, but just can't seem to finish" Group Build.

What a cool idea, Dave. This will actually help keep me going, knowing that there are others doing the same thing and that I can't be the only one to NOT get done. I like John's group build as well!

Is your personal build theme the "I don't like to paint ejection seats" Group Build?

OK, so here is where we are at the moment:

D-Rob (Darren) : F-14 Tomcats

PlasticWeapons (Ryan) : AV-8A/B Harriers

Colin K: Canadian F/A-18 Hornets

Dave Roof : US Marine Corps F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornets

ORANGF15Guy (Brad) : F-15 (do you want to do C's or E's or both)?

Raptor22 (Ming) : F-14A/B/D Tomcats

Spaced (Will) : P-40's

Strikeeagle801 (Aaron) : F-15E/I/S/K/SG

Gentlemen,

Confirm yay or nay if you want to participate and choose your specific airframe or operating service.

Any other takers?

Oh, one more item: Models can be in any scale or an aircraft from any era.

This might be a good opportunity to do what I've been planning on for quite a while now. I may try to get through an F-15E, F-15I, F-15S, F-15K and F-15SG if I can. Would that work? If not, I've got an F-15E from Lakenheath and Seymour Johnson, and two from Mountain Home (the 389th and 391st) that I can do. If someone has an extra set of AB's 90th decals, I can do them too. I don't have the money to get them right now, and won't for quite a while, but we might be able to work out a trade of some sort. That would cover every operational base that the F-15E has been assigned to, but not squadron.

I think I'll do Harriers, Dave. All Monogram kits, 1/48. From AV-8A to AV-8B+. It's production line building time! No rescribing, except for the stuff that is totally wrong or gets sanded off. I'll draw them back in with a pencil.

Well, lemme see.

I have 410, 409, 416, 441, 439, 421, 433 and 425 squadrons to represent, as well as AETE.

Decals used will be pretty much from Leading Edge, although I think I'll need to dig up some of the old Arrow Graphics decals or contact Canmilair for a couple of builds.

Hmmm....this has piqued my interest.

Alright, I'll throw in, however, participation is dependent on living situation in the next three months. But I do want in.

Sooooo.....

I'd be remiss if I wasn't building Vipers. So F-16s for me...but only foreign Vipers. No US, howzat?

I'll look at what I got and list later.

A long-term group build? Well, I have a plan to one day have F-16 models from each squadron in the RNoAF that operated them. For simplicity's sake I'll be using the Revell kit in 1:72. Only five aircraft though - 331, 332, 334, 336 and 338. Already have 332 Squadron represented, so that means building 4 more.

Interesting stuff guys...but would individual Sqn/Wing heritage builds count aswell?. Something ive wanted to do for years is a 48th Fighter Wing build WW2-current and this GB maybe the one to get them done. Types would be: A-20,A-24,A-36,P-39,P-40,P-47 & F-84,F-86,F-100,F-4,F-111,F-15 what do ya think?

I'd have three optios; Japanese F-15J(DJ).....the "Aggressor" type, OA4-M, or F-4s.
I might do a combo.
