Default F-111 Wheels - status

Hi Guys,
A lot of you have been asking about the F-111 wheels. To be honest, these should have been done back in December, but after the birth of our second child, I had absolutely no time for modeling, and even if I had, I was so tired that I couldn't see straight. Anyway, last weekend was the first time I saw my modeling room again, and felt like doing anything. So, hopefully things will get back on track now.
Now, I have been wanting to do F-111 wheels for a long time now, and have finally found a way to get them done. Now I have been reluctant to post these pictures, because they are a ROUGH DRAFT ONLY (not the final product!), and still need a lot of refining and tweaking. In particular, I am not real happy with the outer hub on the main wheel. So, there is more work to be done before these meet the Royale Resin stamp of approval.
All of you who have waited patiently, I appreciate it. I will post more pictures once they get to a point that I am happy with them. But in a nutshell, they will not be released until they are right. I would be interested in initial opinions though. (by the way, the pictures are intentionally small and dark

Cheers,
-Doug

Hey Doug,

They look good... I would say you are off to a good start. Definately a much needed item to replace the lousy kit wheels. I am happy to see these come to fruition. Happy to wait so you can get 'em right. I'll be ordering soon after they are ready. Thanks for posting the preview.

I hear you about the dad thing. The time demands don't get any better as they get older. The only difference is you are slightly less sleep deprived. I have three boys... the youngest finally started kindergarten this year. I thought I'd finally get some building in while he is at school. Boy was I wrong. Between sports, scouts, and all the other demands of life, I feel lucky when I get 30 minutes at the workbench in the course of a week. My wife keeps reminding me the time they are around is short and before I know they'll be out of the house, so I just need to enjoy it while I can.

Those look great Doug!

Can we convince you to do some Vark intake covers.

I've got 6 Varks built with kit intakes.....waiting that someday somebody would give the Vark the same aftermarket love as other kits.
I know there been talk of other people thinking about Vark stuff, but talk is cheap.
I know if you say your working on something we'll get it. Now we have some awesome decal from Afterburner we really need afew key resin bits and life would be great.

Congratulations on the new baby BTW

Gary

If Doug doesn't want to mess with the FOD cover, I might find some time to look at it myself.

In addition to those, what about some corrected intake spikes? The ones in the kit are way too short for a Triple-Plow II intake. Combining those with intake covers would make for a quick and easy fix.

+1 for a proper Pave Tack Pod in the stowed position, and a set of weapons bay doors to go with it.

Next on my list would be a full depth F-111 MLG bay that would be compatible with the D Mold F-111 Resin Intakes. The Academy F-111 MLG bay is much too shallow and the Hobby Boss F-111 MLG bay won't work with the D Mold intakes. Scaledown has a proper bay for the Academy kit, but it won't work with the D Mold intakes either.

Hey Scott,
I am sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I have not been able to get the updated parts from the second party, so I may end up having to redo them myself. Still on the list, but just too much going on right now.

Cheers,
-Doug

Hi Scot,
I have been talking with the company that is supposed to be revising the CAD files and sending new parts, but I can't seem to get anything out of them. This is why I typically do not do collaborations. I am at the point where these should have been done over a year ago, and I may end up just doing it myself....

Cheers,
-Doug
