It's amazing how much character these machines have. I used to enjoy taxiing onto a ramp and watching all the heads turn to look at us. Even today, they are extremely durable and reliable aircraft. I have a bit over 1000 hours in them, and only had three engine failures. Good times.

Couple of shots taken at Miami, Nov '07. Was great to see an old warhorse among all the modern types that day...

Good site,my dad's old C-47A,42-100513,that he crewed for 15+ years was converted into a RC-47N/EC-47N back in 1966,we received another one for a short while but '513 was his most favorite aircraft he was ever assigned to.

We still have a small fleet of C-47's ( 4, I believe) that fly for the Mosquito Control. They buzz my house regularly at night during the summer dumping some crap that is probably slowly killing me, but what a great sound! Had a chance to fly in a DC-3 run by Air Sunshine from Key West to Miami back in the 70's....great memories.....Cliff

I'll add a couple. This is a DC-3 that was originally purchased by AAL in 1938 (IIRC) and was restored to it's 1938 configuration. Photos were taken in Smyrna, TN in May of 2006...
