Default Welcome back, Eastern Airlines!!

At least for charter service, A319s.
http://easternairlines.aero/

The captions reads:
"This is the current artists rendering of an Eastern Airbus A319 in the Eastern livery. This aircraft, the "Spirit of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker" is expected to be delivered to Eastern in Summer 2014"

I seriously hope not.

Another airline I'd like to see comeback would be Pan Am.
Here's Draw Decals' of a Pan Am "Flight of Fancy" Dreamliner:

Dream on!

Wow, who would have thought something like that would ever happen. With all of the the big US airlines merging, it seems restarting a new airline something of a gamble. Probably going to be only a regional airline although with A319 and A320s they can go clear across the country.

I too love the Pan Am billboard aircraft and one of my A319 kits I have already built in that scheme. The markings came in the Revell box and were great. I should post a pic.

Cheers
Chris

Pictures or it didn't happen!!

I've got the recently released Hasegawa 1/72 scale Marine MV-22B which will be "demilitarized" into a civilian "Commuter Hopper" for Pan Am, using Draw Decals. This "Hopper" will soon lead to more "civilized" Ospreys to be used as air ambulances, Coast Guard, the sky's the limit

Hey Rio that sounds very plausible and not kidding here

A friend of mine had a whole bunch of V-22 profiles drawn up with some wild schemes. One of them I have already earmarked a set of decals for and that is a RCAF SAR rescue scheme. Looks just like the current Cormorant schemes. He also had a Swedish version like their Hkp-4 (CH-46) but I am too chicken to try that.

I will have to go revist them and see how many more V-22 kits I need to buy in 1/48

I Googled the net for Osprey "What If" schemes and saw this one:

It be interesting to see UPS flying these birds with their colors.

Yup, those are my friend's drawings. He was learning the drawing program. I found that his drawings only made me want to do silly things to V-22s Probably explains why I have 3 of the Italeri kits

Kind of boring with just two colors. I prefer the late 60s, early 70s scheme if Eastern wants to go retro. That would look much better.

Not sure but I can ask. He is a fairly busy guy since he is in the Canadian Forces. Also, would you really need a drawing of a USCG V-22? I think a side view of a USCG Herc might give you the right idea.

One of my USCG models is going to be that speed boat issued by Monogram many years ago. Probably a Miami Vice thing if I can recall. I had planned on doing is as a confiscated drug boat and updated in USCG colours. I have it built but no paint yet except for the white primer. I even made a radar dome to put on the wing. We'll see if I ever get to finish it.

Cheers
Chris

wow.

I fly with a lot of ex-Eastern guys. The history of the old Eastern Airlines detailed on that website is exceptionally biased, with no mention of the degenerate Frank Lorenzo, who dismantled a proud airline to line his pockets and feed a POS airline (CAL).

I am no unionist, but I can't believe Frank Lorenzo hasn't been run over in a parking lot.

I loved EAL as a kid, and flew them all the time. The ex-Eastern guys I fly with are awesome. This ought to be interesting-

My mom flew for Eastern in the 60s. Electras and Connies mostly the LGA/MIA route. The only time I've ever heard her drop an F-bomb is when she got a call from EAL offering her all of her seniority and a ton of benefits to cross the line and fly for Lorenzo. She told the person on the line to tell Mr Lorenzo to F himself. Go mom!

Last Friday (12/19/2014) Eastern Airlines' Boeing 737 "The Spirit of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker", landed at MIA, after a 23 year absence.
I don't think they'd be getting Airbuses.
Charter flights will be begin in 1st Quarter 2015
Welcome back, Eastern!!!
The hockey stick is back!!
