Default Previewing images for posting on-line.

In order to "preview" on-screen what images will look like when made as hard-copy prints, some photographers "calibrate" their monitor to the color and brightness that they see on the prints. Some folks go so far as to only print their images from a single lab for consistency.

All of that works fine for prints, but how do you "calibrate" your monitor for posting images on the web? I can adjust brightness and tones of my images so that they look right on my monitor, but when I look at my images on my smartphone or another monitor, everything looks different.

You can't... You can only control what you have on your monitor. The rest is in the eye, or in this case, the device of the beholder.
