Default New Academy 1/32 F/A-18A+ release...

Do SprueBrothers have visibility of when this kit will be in stock?

Will you be taking per-orders?

You can probably pick up a 'C' boxing for less than what that kit will be going for and have spare cash on hand to back date it to an 'A'. All the stuff you need is in the 'C' box except the Tails.

They do go on sale frequently in the buy and sell here and on ARC for usually $70ish USD.

If you need 'A' tails Wintervalley will be releasing some in the next month or two.

Not wanting to divert you but showing a less expensive alternative.

Cheers
Emil

Good info Emvar. In regards to the question, Sprue Brothers doesn't really know anything more than what he manufacturer tells them, and many times the dates the manufacturer says aren't correct. We've learned to not announce anything until it's arrived.

Thanks Emvar I may go that route actually. I've seen a few of the after market tails have bad resin shrinkage and needed fixing though.

I'll have a look when this new none is released and weigh it up then.

If your worried about resin shrinkage just file the middle RWR of the kit tails. Thats what I did on my builds.

As Elmo has mentioned the origanal kit has everything in the box to build a A model.

Notice the CF-188A has the latest mods (out of the box) and the CF-188B is the earlier non modified airframe (plus some airframe additions like refueling probe).
The one thing the Academy 1/32 kit DOES need is replacement metal landing gear. The kit gear bends after a couple years.

That is only because you try getting into them.....

I have the Black Box 'A' tails and the shrinkage on mine is less than noticeable when you compare the kit tail and the resin one. I'm waiting on Wintervally to release the really early tails as I will be depicting 188901 on delivery.

G-Factor gear. Done. Currently showing out-of-stock at Sprue Bros, though-

Ok, you have successfully convinced me to make my next Hornet (third one total) into an A model using the kit parts.

Thanks for the encouragement.
