Default NAVAIR Help

Hi Gentelmen,
I need some NAVAIR help.....specifically finishes on Naval Phantoms on cruise in combat conditions. I am in the final stages of finishing my build of Showtime 100 and wondering what final finish I should use after I get done with my decals and panel line enhancements. It sounds like they start off with a glossy finish, but after a while the grime from the sea and rough conditions take there toll and just wanted to know if it would be appropriate to use a semi-gloss final or if it would be better to use a flat finish.....any feed back would be appreciated.

I seem to remember that USN/USMC A/C were flat gull gray (36440) over gloss white until 1975 when the change to gloss gull gray started.

RexTN, the Accidental CAG, who passed away last year had a post on the subject, but I can't find it. All my kit instructions for Vietnam aircraft call for flat gull gray over white for what that's worth.

HTH!

Recommend giving it a dull coat, gull gray dulled quickly while at sea.
