Default New Steel Beach items now available

The last hurrah of summer is here before I get back into the classroom. I've got some new items, both resin and vinyl, that are now available at Sprue Brothers. Included is a series of masks for the budget-minded. They are a "Do-it-yourself" mask, where you are provided with the patterns, placement guides, and blank vinyl. All you do is cut out the paper pattern, tape it down to the vinyl, and cut it out yourself. As always, thanks so much for your support and business. It is appreciated!

Pre-cut mask sets:
-- 1/48 F-14 Gull Gray over White
-- 1/48 F-16 Splinter Scheme
-- 1/48 F-18 Splinter Scheme
-- 1/48 F4D Skyray masks
-- 1/48 VF-102 Diamondback markings (for use with Furball Decals sheet)

DIY uncut mask sets:
-- blank vinyl (2 sheets) - You can cut out whatever you need to.
-- 1/48 F-5 Grape Scheme
-- 1/48 F-16 Splinter Scheme
-- 1/48 F-18 Splinter Scheme
-- 1/32 F-16 Splinter Scheme
-- 1/32 F-18 Splinter Scheme

1/48 Resin:
-- A-4B backdate (contains a solid rudder for the start of an A-4A conversion)
-- F-4 tailhook (to replace the Hasegawa part)
-- F-4 fuel dump (I've broken so many of these off I had to make them! Two different sizes for the Hasegawa kits)
-- F-15 pre-painted intake/nozzle plugs
-- RA-5C pre-painted intake/nozzle plugs
-- F-14 nose correction for Academy kit - newly engineered and mastered

Will any of these be available in Orlando?

Alas, when Nats starts in Orlando, I will be sitting in meetings getting ready for the school year. Same goes for next year in Colorado. I'm really, really hoping that St. Louis wins the 2014 Nats. They are shooting for late July, which will avoid the school conflict.

Hi, Darren.

While I was in the Steel Beach section of the spruebrothers shop, I noticed that you have a 1/48 scale E-2B backdate set.

Did anyone make decals for that?
I would like a Gulf of Tonkin Yacht Club Hawkeye.

Cheers, Stefan.

There are no official decal sheets. However, in looking at pictures, the markings were very simple. You can use existing decal sheets to get the squadron markings and then cobble together the other markings. Here's a picture of a VAW-113 aircraft I did using some of the Authentic Decal sheet for the squadron markings and then using decals from my spares bin.

Indeed it is. I need to get the outlines of the pattern printed from the vinyl shop and then I'll get it released.

Thanks for the explanation about the E-2B, Darren.

I think I'll go for it.

Cheers, Stefan.

Darren, not sure if I missed it, but do you spell out *which* schemes are covered by the appropriate sets - e.g. is the 'F-16 Splinter Scheme' possibly an NSAWC jet, or the NFWS Viggen splinter, or?

Thanks-

Sorry about that. It's the NSAWC scheme. I'll be starting the Viggen scheme shortly.

Wow! They're out already? I'm going to try and cast this weekend. However, school starts on Monday, and getting my classroom up and running consumes most of my time for the first two weeks of school. I'll try and squeeze in casting when I can, though. I'll post when the order is ready. I'm hoping I can get it done in the next couple of weeks. It won't be months and months, though.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to browse Sprue Brothers today to see what needed to be cast. I'll make sure to include the arrestor hooks.
