Default Intruders!!!

Hey D-Rob here's an idea. Not all A-6As had the perforated fuselage speedbrakes. Sometime during A-6A production, they were discontinued. A lot of A-6As only had the solid panel.

Conversely, many A-6As with the perforated speedbrakes were converted to A-6Es and retained them.

The HobbyBoss A-6A ONLY has the perforated panel. The HobbyBoss A-6E only has the solid panel.

My suggestion - produce a perforated panel for A-6As converted to A-6Es. Produce a solid panel for later A-6As.

(For those who don't believe me, check photos and BuNos on the tail.)

That's a good idea, since I want to build one of the VA-35 DS Intruders from the Afterburner sheet.

Another idea is to make the intake found on the left side of the aft fuselage. From the pictures I have seen of the sprues from the A-6E boxing it looks like HB omitted that too for the TRAM A--6E.

The intake scoop is found on the new sprue near the radome parts:

Ryan,
Thanks for posting that. I see it now. I looked at the pictures online of the sprues at the Hobby Search website and couldn't find that thing. Also no reference to it in the instructions since the newest boxing is just an E model.
