Default 1:72 Amodel Yak-55M

This kit is terrible. Grainy, soft, super-thick plastic with soft details are some of the reasons why. It's the only kit of this aircraft around, though, so off we go. My brother was thinking of buying one of these a while back (a 1:1 version), but decided against it and got this kit for me to build him instead. Much cheaper.

I added seatbelts made out of tape, replaced the pitot with brass tubing and did a custom paint scheme. Finally, I smash molded part of the canopy to allow it to be open. The original canopy I sliced for the front and back, though it's about a foot thick, scale-wise. This didn't work as well as I'd hoped, but I'm just glad to get this off my bench. The paint also looks much grainier in these photos than in real life ... ah well.

Anyway, its colorful and different.
