The other tip I have regards joining the fuselage halves. I added little tabs made of small pieces of sprue along the inside...

Nice work. The 2 seat starfighter is an eye catcher. I took a 30 year break as well. This is a good hobby for old guys as long as they make strong enough reading glasses.
